The annual New Year’s Eve Fireworks display, launched from the foot of the London Eye and from rafts on the Thames, is one of the most spectacular in the world.
The stunning display lights up the sky for miles around and is watched by millions. If you want to get tickets to be inside the restricted areas around Waterloo then you need to get a ticket (100,000 go on sale here). If however you’d love to see the fireworks but don’t fancy being part of the crowds we’ve lined up 4 great venues where you can eat, drink and be merry in luxurious surroundings and still get a spectacular view of the fireworks.
With its 270 degree view of London, Aqua Shard takes some beating as the best place to watch New Year’s Eve fireworks. Guests can enjoy a five-course dinner, champagne, live music and a DJ from midnight until 3.30am.
Situated on top of Millbank Tower, Skybar offers fantastic views across central London. There’s a more informal feel to this party with food stalls offering a variety of eats including Spanish tapas, Jamican jerk and traditional British food to choose from. For those that are still standing at 5am a luxury champagne breakfast will be served.
Located next to the London Eye and overlooking the Palace of Westminster, the Riverside Rooms provide one of the most elegant venues to see in the New Year and has an exclusive viewing platform to ensure you get close to the action. The evening will consist of a four course meal and plenty of snacks throughout the evening to keep your energy up.
OK so there’s no direct view of the London Eye display but with fantastic views across the London skyline you’re be able to enjoy various firework displays at midnight. Guests are encouraged to dress in white to pay homage to Yemenja, the Brazilian goddess of the sea and will enjoy live entertainment, DJs and samba dancing. You can book a celebration ticket which gives you access to the party, a welcome cocktail and canapes or make a reservation in the restaurant.
