Chewton Glen corporate events: refresh, restart, reward

Located in the chocolate box countryside of Hampshire on 130 acres of beautiful grounds is Chewton Glen, one of the best country-house hotels in the UK. Managed by Iconic Group, they are fabulously sophisticated and luxurious, and with a staff to guest ratio of two-to-one, you’ll be treated like royalty.

Just under 2 hours from London, Chewton Glen is the perfect destination for corporate retreats and away-days. Ideally placed on the edge of the New Forest there are countless opportunities for team activities along with walking, hiking and biking trails to explore. The hotel is also a few minutes’ walk from the sea, where guests can experience sailing, kayaking, and fishing excursions.

Fine dining is available in the main restaurant, whilst a more relaxed option is available in the farm-to-fork restaurant, headed up by Saturday Kitchen’s James Martin. This is also home to the cookery school, offering a mix of classes and demonstrations, accompanied by a glass of wine or champagne from one of the biggest wine cellars in the country.

Chewton Glen is of course also famous for their Tree Houses. Back in November we were lucky enough to stay in one and can vouch that there’s nothing quite like waking up on a frosty morning and lying in your private hot tub whilst watching birds fly overhead. Squint and you could almost believe you’re in Africa.

Built on stilts in a tree-lined valley, these contemporary curvaceous wooden houses come with full length windows to soak up the forest views. According to Managing Director of Chewton Glen, Andrew Stembridge, “not a tree was felled nor a tree-root disturbed” in the construction of these treehouses. “The design and project team worked in harmony to create these unique buildings which would blend into the natural habitat and create the absolute minimum footprint.”

And it’s not the only part of Chewton where you’ll see an emphasis placed on sustainability; supporting the local environment and economy wherever possible is high on the agenda. They also run a number of activities to give back to the community which you can get involved in, great if you’re looking to organise a team activity with a purpose. Don your wellies and set out into the forest to get involved in a restoration project or work in a team to build, paint and decorate a playhouse that can be donated to charity. Plus a whole heap of other activities to choose from across land, sea and air. And after all that activity, you’ll be ready to relax at the Chewton Glen Spa, featuring the UK’s largest hydrotherapy pool, where all products are natural and vegan.
