Somerset House’s summer exhibition about perfume will showcase the work of Mark Buxton (the man behind Comme Des Garcons scents) and Lyn Harris, and will have an on-site scent lab to discover how fragrances are made.
G&T Ice Cream
A G&T ice-cream parlour will be popping up in the courtyard of The Hoxton hotel. You’ll be able to opt between a scoop of gin-infused ice cream of sorbet; think crystallised rosemary, dried olives, botanical brittle, savoury wafer and gin-soaked orange peel, to name a few.
Festival of Love
Back at the Southbank Centre for a fourth year, the summer-long Festival of Love celebrates love in all its guises through performance, music, installations and design. Look out for the Festival of Love Design Challenge and lift lobby installations.
It’s circus as you’ve never seen it before –the wonderful Giffords Circus visits Chiswick House. The theme this year is Any Port in a Storm, a Baroque inspired show including a Cuban troupe, a Hungarian Csikos rider and a Ukrainian flyer.
The Serpentine Gallery presents Grayson Perry’s The Most Popular Art Exhibition Ever! The cross-dressing artist – and one of Britain’s most unlikely national treasures – will touch on themes including popularity, art, masculinity and the current cultural landscape.
A modern version of the iconic British tavern is to open within the luxurious Langham hotel, with the help of Michael Roux Jr. The idea is to re-create the romantic image of an old London tavern from the 1800s, serving cups of punch alongside hearty British fare, with an upmarket edge.
London Wine Week
Take a self-guided wine tour at London Wine Week which encourages you to discover new grapes and blends at top restaurants and bars across London. All week, more than 100 venues taking part serve discounted tasting flights of wine to wristband wearers for £5 per flight.
London Food Month
Celebrating London’s diverse culinary scene, London Food Month, the UK’s biggest food festival will incorporate hundreds of events across the capital – from breakfasts to late-night supper clubs – to represent the global gastronomic traditions that can now be found in London.
The twice-yearly rooftop reinvention at Selfridges is both clever and anticipated; this year there it’s inspired by Californian cuisine with food including grilled meat and salads whilst six resident artists will display their work as part of the beach inspired look.
