Pantone colour of the year 2018 – how to use ultra violet at events

The Pantone colour of 2018 has been announced as ultra violet and it’s described by Pantone as a “provocative and thoughtful purple shade” that embodies individuality and spirituality. According to Pantone, ultra violet “communicates originality, ingenuity and visionary thinking.”

The deep purple hue will be popping up everywhere and we think it’s perfect for events. If you’re worried that going all out for purple would be overwhelming, then you can bring in elements with chic décor touches. It’s an optimistic colour so introducing small amounts and using it as an accent colour is a great idea. Uplighting, flowers and table centres are all great ways to introduce some purple passion into your palette. Try it in conjunction with darker tones in the winter, such as ruby reds, emerald greens, etc whereas in summer it could be used more as a lavender tone with whites, pinks, greens and hints of darker purple.
