Dine Under the St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel Staircase
Staircases don’t come any more iconic than the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel’s neo-Gothic steps. Featuring glorious gothic metalwork, gold leaf, handpainted fleur-de-lis wallpaper, a rich tapestry carpet, and wrought-iron balustrading under a starry vaulted ceiling. Phew! Its one of London’s most romantic spots. Originally designed to allow ladies to pass each other in their wide ballgowns, the staircase has been trodden by notable guests from Victorian royalty to The Spice Girls, who filmed their Wannabe music video there.
For the first time in the hotel’s history, Londoners can sit down to a candlelit dinner at the foot of those famous stairs. They’ll set up the candle lit table for between two and eight guest, seving up a four course menu created by the hotel’s Executive Chef Adam Ashe. Those with the means to fork out £155 for a ticket will be treated to a champagne-and-canapés reception followed by a four-course dinner created by one of the hotel’s executive chefs. The evening begins with a private champagne and canapé reception at 6.30pm, followed by a romantic candle-lit dinner at 7pm and wine pairings hand-selected by the hotel sommelier.
Frequently voted London’s most romantic venue and for good reason; take just one step underneath their floral canopy of blossoming flowers and you’ll be swooning too. Though it’s famous for courting couples, the private dining room is less well known. The elegant first floor private dining room is the perfect location for private gatherings and special celebrations. With sumptuous wood panelling and a roaring log fire, the intimate dining room evokes a rich, warm and inviting atmosphere. Seating a maximum of 23 people, the room can be arranged and decorated to personalise your event.
This King’s Cross Grade-II listed building was originally designed as the first purpose-built gym in England and has been voted the world’s most beautiful restaurant in the 2016 Restaurant & Bar Design Awards. The space has an outdoor terrace and serves its Mittel-European (central European) inspired dishes across two floors.
German Gymnasium can be hired for groups of up to 50 guests, they also have a semi-private dining room for 32 seated guests or 50 for a standing reception, whilst those that are looking for a bigger celebration can either hire the upper floor for 250 guests or the whole restaurant is available for up to 500.
For the ultimate in Outside In style, the Petersham Nurseries is a gorgeous floral-flanked setting, serving up beautiful plates of fresh, seasonal food. Normally it’s only open for lunch but upon request it’s available in the evenings too where you can book it for exclusive hire for 120 guests. Alternatively you can book it during normal hours for up to 20 guests and it’s also worth looking out for their pop-up events such as the Valentine’s Day 10 course evening. During the summer months, if weather permits, they are even able to move your event outside to dine al fresco. We love a day out in Richmond and exploring the park but if it’s too much of a trek for you, then check out their new Covent Garden location and pop into their lifestyle shop too for beautiful gifts for your loved one.
This Spanish restaurant is part of a chain; but don’t let that put you off. The beautiful interiors feature Moorish oversized lamps, traditional azulejo blue and white tiling, glowing lighting, gorgeous green furnishings and vintage-inspired artworks, ensuring that each restaurant is exuberantly glamorous. With branches in Victoria, Marylebone and Canary Wharf you are spoilt for choice for location and there are a variety of private dining spaces including mezzanine settings and terrace spacing for alfresco dining. Ideal for groups of around 40 or 80.

Bob Bob Ricard
Loved for its press-for-bubbles button, Bob Bob Ricard is sexy, glamorous and fun. The private dining room offers a gorgeous private setting, complete with a working fireplace. The design takes inspiration from the dining carriages of the Orient Express and the Royal Train and can seat 10-16 guests. Also worth a visit is it’s follow up restaurant, Bob Bob Cite, which opened in 2019 in the Cheese Grater building and is suspended 30 metres in the air. The ‘press for champagne’ buttons remain but as you’re in the city expect to be able to size up to Magnums, Jeroboams and Methuselahs.
The New British Restaurant and Cocktail Bar is in a beautiful building on the Greenwich Peninsula. The interior of the restaurant is crammed full of British made and designed furniture, a huge open plan kitchen, flowing with colour and light. The main restaurant features an ornate American style bar and is available for exclusive hire or semi-private dining. One of the best private hire venues in the city.
For one of the most romantic venues in London, take a trip to Sketch which is a shrine to pink, the colour of love. Intimate seating, changing art pieces and stunning interior decor ensures this restaurant remains at the forefront of the London scene. For private dining there are a number of options with completely different themes, including a semi-private Library for 12-24 guests, a private space that gives the impression of dining in a forest glade for 15-32 and further spaces are available which means the restaurant can also accommodate seated events for up to 120. You know a restaurant has great design detail when pictures of its toilets are all over Instagram, so don’t forget to check out the egg capsule loos whilst you’re there – we particulary like the current floral installation by one of our favourite event florists, Ricky Paul.
Spring, Somerset House
Chef Skye Gyngell’s beautiful spot inside Somerset House is an elegant dining space. The Salon sits up to 36 guests in an enclosed interior atrium, allowing for dining throughout the year. Tucked away down a cobbled alleyway in Richmond is a chic pub that you might recognise from Instagram with its high ceilings and marble bar features. In the main dining area there is seating framed around a statement bar centre piece with lounging booths, tables and cool chairs making it ideal for a sit down meal. For private dining there’s a whole upstairs space available. The restaurant offers great contemporary elegance with plenty of areas for relaxing, including a pretty courtyard.
