Party through the day and into the night with a Miami Beach themed event
Take inspiration from the Sunshine State and immerse yourself in a world of colour, hip decor and trendy lounge styling with our retro Miami Beach event theme.
Miami in the 50s was the place to be with Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe and Dean Martin staying there and partying at the Copa City and other nightclubs, earning itself the title of ‘the sun and fun capital of the world’.
This fun, bright and glamorous concept is perfect for summer parties, encouraging guests to mingle, get creative and chill in style.
Decoration and Theming
A retro chic colour palette will transport your guests back in time to the glamour of 50’s Miami. Pink & turquoise would be the central colours with soft grey and ivory and pops of yellow in stark contract and colourful lighting will create focal points.
Sumptuous fabrics and luxurious furnishings create a high end feel. Theatre size gold tassels hold back the drapes, add rows of gold palm trees, plush red couches with the occasional cheetah-print banquette for guests to recline on to complete the theme.
A cocktail bar that creates an intimate setting steeped in golden-age glamour should be the main central feature, complimented by a retro dinner setting with chequered flooring and high stools would be perfect.
Juke boxes would make this a fun, chilled interactive event and a Cadillac parked outside would be a fabulous photo opportunity.
Food and Beverages
There are two routes that suit this theme. Small elegant plates to nibble from when guests arrive, with a mixologist serving up time-honoured cocktails with a dinner menu featuring grilled and roasted meats, alongside seafood.
Alternatively and for bigger, more informal groups, serve dinner from food stations featuring burgers and dogs from a purpose built diner with modern Miami twists such as watermelon salad with drinks served in retro coke bottles. An interactive ‘shake away’ milkshake style bar would serve themed cocktail shakes.
A medley of cabaret inspired performers offering a range of entertainment through the day and night would be perfect, with a mix of singers, dancers and musicians. The sensational sounds of a jazz swing band would recreate the era of Rat Pack glitz and glamour. Cabaret artists will create an exhilarating experience and a few lookalike walkabout performers to greet and meet and get guest mingling whilst an interactive salsa or latin band with instructors would get large groups up and dancing and for those that don’t like dancing a casino table should offer enough thrills.
Venues with lobbies for guests to make their grand arrival and then shashay around, whilst sipping cocktails are ideal. We love the bar at The Ned with its velvet clad furnishings and the pink interiors of Sketch are bang on brief whilst the art deco pillars of Banking Hall capture the elegance of the 50s. If you want to take over a whole venue then original 50s décor and interior fittings of the Rivoli Ballroom is stunning. A sophisticated blank canvas venue with ideally indoor/outdoor access would enable you to create your own interiors with different zones for the day and night when you might want more of an intimate setting with lounge furniture or a bespoke gold mirror dancefloor.
