We were delighted that leading London florist, Elizabeth Marsh, recently chose Kent House Knightsbridge as the venue to launch her new book, Petal Performance; The Art and Economics of Floral Design. Full of stunning photography and real-life case studies featuring arrangements in London’s best venues (including our own!), the book explores the theory behind top end floral design.
Elizabeth is a London-based florist who we’ve been lucky enough to work with many times on weddings and events over the years. Liz has written her book, Petal Performance, primarily for hotel managers, restaurant managers and brides-to-be to help them make decisions and give them a sense of what floral design encompasses.
She says: “After many years working with companies and individuals in a variety of situations, it strikes me that people often find themselves responsible for considerable budgets regarding floral decor, yet don’t necessarily have much experience in ensuring they are both achieving the desired results and spending their money well…This book has been written for those people who would like to increase their understanding of floral decor – both how and why it is used and how to make sure they create the maximum impact for their investment.”
Whether you’re looking for some inspiration for your own arrangements at home, a wedding or how to maximise design in a hotel or corporate space, you’ll find plenty of ideas and insider knowledge. As well as brides-to-be and people involved in the hospitality industry, the book would also be useful for florists and floristry students.
The launch of the book was a wonderful event and true to style, Liz bought the venue to life with her floral designs. We were lucky enough to get a few behind-the-scenes pictures so you can see the transformation and the amount of work and detail required in producing first-class floral design.
