Last month we hosted a private dinner at Kent House Knightsbridge with our take on Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
If you love the book or the film or Audrey Hepburn (and let’s face it, who doesn’t love all three), it’s the perfect theme for an elegant event. White, teal and silver are obviously the key colours and we filled the venue with bunches of white hydrangeas purchased from an early morning visit to Covent Garden Flower Market, along with an arrangement of oversized balloons from our friends Bubblegum Balloons, which formed an arch over the dinner table.
We welcomed guests with blue cosmo cocktails and feel sure that Holly Golightly, who loved a martini soaked party herself, would have approved of our post dinner cocktail making master class with guests learning how to make their own cocktails, including ‘Tiffany Tea’ and ‘I’ll tell you in the morning’ from master mixologists Drake and Morgan.
The three course dinner from our caterers, Acclaim, had a decidedly summery feel with Summer Pea & Asparagus Valoute with Truffled Whipped Goats Cheese as a starter, followed by Roasted Lamb Rump with Caramelised Onion Puree, Thyme Gallette, Summer Radishes & Asparagus, Broad Bean Salad. And to finish, Lemon Meringue Pannacotta (served in a Champagne Saucer).
There were so many lovely moments during the evening, such as our roaming poet who rose to the challenge of creating on-the-spot improvisational poetry based on suggested words from our guests including, ‘in or out’, ‘3 lions’ and ‘white hydrangeas’; quite an achievement!
Whilst the end of evening party bags didn’t quite rise to the giddy heights of real Tiffany diamonds, guests were delighted to depart with edible gifts including our Tiffany designed cup-cakes to munch on their way home.
