People have been gathering in Merchant Taylors’ magnificent building for centuries and with its nine versatile spaces, this beautiful livery hall is perfect for entertaining.
Last month we were delighted to be asked to style this prestigious venue for a winter party, creating different moods through the venue which culminated in the discovery of an enchanted garden with secret nooks and twisted trees.
Guests were welcomed with a red carpet inside a winter walkway with painted birch trees . This winter forest theme continued in the Great Hall where we installed a large circular LED bar, casting a cool blue light throughout the room. White and mirror top furniture with frost prints provided break-out areas for guests to network and relax.
Inside the Courtyard Marquee, the mood changed completely with our creation of a ‘trippy enchanted forest’. We styled the venue with a range of features creating a playful yet contemporary fairytale feel, covering the floor with artificial grass and moss, as well as installing trees with hanging glass baubles, padded toadstool seats and statues dusted with glitter.
Inside the garden was a Shot Station, discovered via a secret door, hidden amongst an abundance of foliage. A ‘shot chair’ was decorated with grass and floristry whilst actors, dressed as woodland creatures in whimsical costumes, administered the shots.
It was an absolute treat working at this venue with its traditions, history and heritage whilst being given the opportunity to style in it a fresh and vibrant manner. It was a truly enchanting evening.

We are proud to be an appointed stylist at the venue working across their nine stunning spaces including a magnificent Great Hall, an elegant Drawing Room and a pretty Courtyard Garden. The Great Hall dates back to the 14th century and can cater for up to 700 guests for a reception or 280 for a Gala Dinner.
