Earlier this year we hosted an interactive evening of visual and culinary delights, culminating in a magnificent and surreal cocktail party based on the theme of a trip to Wonderland.
We knew we wanted a statement cake for our guests to marvel at so we contacted leading cake designers Rosalind Miller who are known for their beautiful and delicious cakes and confections that are a feast for the eyes and tastebuds. Rosalind Miller provided us with the most wonderful cake, covered in images from Alice in Wonderland including iced flamingos and keyholes. The treats didn’t stop there though as they also provided edible roses and White Rabbit biscuits for guests to paint before nibbling.
We loved working with such a creative team and wanted to know a bit more about them.
Here’s our 60 second interview with the founder, Rosalind Miller herself.
Describe Rosalind Miller Cakes in three words.
Contemporary. Unforgettable. Delicious. Our approach is to create something unique and exciting and we feel that our style and designs truly reflect this.
How long have you been running?
We set up seven years ago and have been delighted to see the company grow from a stall in Greenwich Market to now supplying the Food Halls of Harrods. We’re proud to have won industry wedding awards, been featured in many publications including The Independent, Hello and Brides; alongside being an approved supplier to leading venues including The Ritz, The Savoy and Claridges whilst working directly for clients such as Vogue.
What is the best event/display/cake you have ever worked on?
A 15 metre long dessert table in the Qatar with thousands of individual dessert items and tall tiered cakes.
What is your favourite cake?
Our favourite design at the moment is Rapunzel, a six tier wedding cake with an assortment of sugar flowers including Anemones and blossoms in dusty pastel green, lilac and ivory. It’s from our new range and you can see it currently on display in Harrods. Our English Rhubarb and Vanilla sponge cake with Swiss Meringue Rhubarb Buttercream is also pretty hard to resist! We’re developing a new range of gourmet flavours so watch this space.
What is the craziest request you have had for a cake?
Earlier this year we were contact to make a 10 foot tall cake covered in sugar flowers which was so big that it had to be wheeled onto the stage.
