4 Princelet Street is one historic venue that really does deliver.
We were recently mooching around Spitalfields taking in some inspiration from the Shoreditch Design Triangle festival. We came away with lots of styling ideas from all the latest designers but also to our joy discovered a venue we hadn’t visited before; 4 Princelet Street, a unique unmodernised east London venue with a Dickensian feel. We loved it!

historic conservation area of Spitalfields, 4 Princelet Street is just a stones throw from Liverpool Street, with views of Hawksmoore’s Christ Church from the walled garden roof. Built for the owner of Trueman Brewery, the house is an 18th century yellow brick Georgian time capsule. The double fronted merchant’s house, conserved in its original condition from top to bottom, is one of the last of the original houses to be built on the street where dozens of French Huguenot families, escaping Catholic prosecution in France, settled in the streets of East London during the early 1700s.
4 Princelet Street is often used for photoshoots and as a creative space for exhibitions but as it’s also available for private hire so you can use it for a whole range of events.
The original interior hides more than three centuries of stories so if you’re looking for a venue that is intimate and atmospheric then this is it. The house consists of 15 conserved rooms which are available to hire, making it perfect for hosting breakout sessions, functions and meetings. Each of the 15 rooms exist in almost unaltered form with their own working fireplaces, panelling and shutters. There are also period furniture and textiles on hand for hire, outdoor terraces, skylights and catering areas. The venue is suitable for 60 people for private functions.
