If you want to get ahead of the crowds and be one of the first to use one of the newest venues in 2018 then get in touch with our team who will be happy to help.
Soho House White City
Rumoured to be opening in April, Soho House is set to be moving into White City as part of the area’s massive rejuvenation. Located in the former BBC TV Centre, the hotel will feature nearly fifty rooms and a rooftop pool. Expect to experience their distinctive style at this new multi-level private members club with terrace and swimming pool on the roof of the new office building overlooking the Television Centre forecourt, an iconic Grade II listed circular building, now known as The Helios.
Hackney Arts Centre
A historic east London cinema which lay derelict for over 30 years is to be transformed into a major new arts centre. The £3 million project will see the former Savoy Cinema in Hackney transformed by the owners of Village Underground. The derelict theatre has remained unused since the mid-nineties and Village Underground plans to restore the damaged art deco plasterwork and guilded panels, as well as the large stained glass light well in the ceiling. The main theatre room has been lost for years but has kept all its beautiful art deco architectural features.
Temperate House, Kew Gardens
As of May 2018, Kew’s breath-taking Temperate House – the largest Victorian glasshouse in the world – will open after a five-year closure. The entire framework of the building has been painstakingly repaired, and its thousands of panes of glass replaced, along with its intricate ironwork and expansive paved flooring. The result is a glistening cathedral housing 10,000 plants, making it one of the most unique venues in London. The impressive glasshouse can host large evening dinners and standing receptions of up to 300 guests amongst 10,000 species of rare and endangered plants.
Petersham Covent Garden
Petersham Nurseries opened last year in Covent Garden but we’re still waiting for their restaurant to open. We will however, be well rewarded for our patience as they will be opening two restaurants; La Goccia and The Petersham. La Goccia is their take on the Italian traditions of cichetti and aperitivo and will feature an open grill and wood burning oven. Meanwhile, The Petersham will be a more refined affair, following the formula of Petersham Nurseries Café in Richmond, the interior of the a la carte restaurant is inspired by the understated grandeur of Petersham House.
Replacing The Deck at the National, and opening in time for summer, is a contemporary rooftop venue which will make the most of the views of London skyline and provide an enhanced space for events, private parties and weddings.
One of Waterloo’s most recognisable landmarks is the Leake Street tunnel – London’s largest legal graffiti wall – which links Lower Marsh to the South Bank and is home to the acclaimed arts and entertainment venue The Vaults. The spaces are to be transformed into a “street gallery with restaurants in” but in the meantime one of the eight former arches has been turned into a multi-sensory venue for private events for up to 300 people.
Kensington Palace Pavilion
A new events venue is to be installed in the beautiful gardens of Kensington Palace in 2018. A glass-fronted building overlooking the palace’s famous Sunken Garden, will replace the Orangery at Kensington Palace for three years. The Kensington Palace Pavilion will be flooded with light, set in the heart of the palace grounds and will be available for hire from March 2018. The new venue is purpose-built, with flexible space for a range of events and a unique terrace overlooking the stunning gardens and East façade of the historic Georgian royal home. The Pavilion will feature two main event spaces, with capacity for 800 guests for a standing reception across both rooms, and 300 for a seated dinner with the option of a separate drinks reception area. It will have a covered terrace area, while the area around the Sunken Garden can also be used alongside the terrace for larger events.
Kettners Town House
Bought to life by the Soho House team, Kettner’s Townhouse is a 33-bedroom hotel and restaurant in a historic Georgian building in London’s Soho. The 150 year iconic French restaurant will open as a champage bar, restaurant and guest house with 33 individually designed bedrooms, along with the addition of a new pavilion in the internal yard. It is said that the original restaurant which dates back to 1867 was the favourite of Oscar Wilde and chefs are planning to incorporate some of the historical recipes into today’s menus.
London’s first hi-tech indoor mini-golf centre is to open at Westfield London in White City in March. The 20,000 sq ft Puttshack is being billed as the world’s only “super-tech” mini-golf centre and will feature four courses and a 750-seater bar. A mini-computer equipped with new tracking technology will be embedded in each ball and screens will show video highlights. There will also be “interactive quiz” holes and a pinball-style challenge. Puttshack is a joint venture from the brains behind ping pong venue, Bounce and global phenomenon, Topgolf.
Following a £2.5million refurbishment Glazier’s Hall have created an additional two river side rooms and a new basement level, alongside a bespoke wine cellar. This Grade II listed venue has always had a wow factor with its panoramic views of the Thames but this restoration has taken it up another level, incorporating three of London Bridge’s Georgian arches and the latest cutting-edge spec AV systems.
