Come with us on a journey to Wonderland….
This week we fell down the rabbit hole at our Wonderland showcase at Kent House Knightsbridge as we took guests on an interactive evening of visual and culinary delights culminating in a magnificent and surreal cocktail party.
The venue was illuminated in red colour washes by White Light who projected images of playing cards onto the exterior of the building whilst a very anxious giant white rabbit greeted guests at the door with cries of “you’re late, you’re late, for a very important date” as he bounced about Kensington Road.
The evening began in our Rutland Room as guests entered onto a grass lawn installed by Wow Grass and beautiful forest images were projected onto the walls by Oxygen Technical Services. A string quartet from Nathan Hassall provided the perfect accompaniment with their atmospheric music for our enchanted forest.
Judging by the queues, one of the most popular rooms was the amazing pop up photo parlour created with Kru Talent who built a bespoke Alice In Wonderland set with some of the best props we’ve ever seen – it seemed no-one could resist the giant oversized floral headdress. “Curiouser and curiouser!”
After a selection of welcome drinks, guests ascended up the grand (grass covered!) staircase where dancers from the Royal School of Ballet performed pirouettes and the Mad Hatter’s cocktail party stepped up a level.
Activities took place around a stunning long tea table with a tablescape created by Hayford and Rhodes who dressed it with creeping foliage, vines and mosses and sumptuous roses spilling out of teapots with crockery, silverware and glassware provided by Classic Crockery.
Guests came to realise that looks can be deceiving as delicious treats, served up by leading caterers Acclaim weren’t all they seemed; macaroons masquerading as mini burgers, fondants disguised as eggs and soldiers and lollies made from chicken liver were some of the unexpected canapes served.
There were also Eat Me Drink Me stations, full of surprises such as giant marshmallows from The Marshmallowists including our favourite, gin and blackberry; a fragrance factory from Lick Me I’m Delicious with flavours that included Unicorn Tears; paint your own edible roses from Rosalind Miller and adult candies including alcoholic pastilles from Smith and Sinclair.
Later in the evening guests made their way onto the black and white dancefloor where DJ Ella took the party up a gear from her beautiful DJ booth surrounded by silver balloons from the team at Bubblegum Balloon Girls.
The Bartender’s team kept the drinks flowing with steaming cocktails poured from teapots from our bespoke bar designed by Invisible Blue, which made its debut prior to being installed at Kent House Knightsbridge for our Speakeasy Salon Christmas season.
Throughout the night guests were asked to put their business cards inside an envelope and then tie it to our wishing tree. The evening ended with a name drawn from our Top Hat and a lucky winner receiving two tickets from Eurostar.
Evolve Events had a wonderful time showcasing both the venue and some of the industry’s most creative talents at our Wonderland showcase at Kent House Knightsbridge. We would like to thank them all for their time, generosity and imagination – it truly was a night to remember at Wonderland.
