Pop goes the weasel: colouring a fund raising night

We were recently asked to style Kent House Knightsbridge for a gala dinner to help them raise funds for a children’s educational charity. We knew the venue would need to look bright and the auction would need to be fun if we were going to create the right atmosphere.

We took our inspiration from an old nursery rhyme and singing game, Pop goes the weasel. The song is mentioned in November, 1855 in England in the Thirtieth Annual Report Of The National Society For Promoting The Education Of The Poor so it seemed a good fit with the charity’s cause.

Half a pound of tuppenny rice,
Half a pound of treacle.
That’s the way the money goes,
Pop! goes the weasel.

But we also loved the Pop! element and decided to have some fun with it by introducing lots of bright, vibrant bursts of colours that popped out through the venue. It was a great evening and we also have to mention the wonderful food provided by the talented team of The Recipe who helped ensure that everyone was well fed before the intensity of the auction began. With the trend for the jazz age of the 1920's growing in popularity we're delighted to announce that Kent House Knightsbridge will be hosting it's own Black And White Ball this Christmas.

This raucous decade's reputation for a good time makes it a perfect theme for a party. Think gangsters, molls, jazz babies and divine decadance.

Art Deco was such a lavish and ornamental style that we're delighted to be bringing it to life at our venue this Christmas and with films and fashion embracing the period, the roaring twenties are set to become the look of the party seaon. Here's some of our favourites:

1920's glamour comes to the big screen

This Christmas sees the release of Baz Luhrmann's remake of The Great Gatsby and it promises to be a feast for the eyes not least as it will be filmed in 3-D. The cast includes Carey Mulligan, Tobey Maguire and Leonardo DiCaprio but it's not just the actors that will grab your attention. Vintage dresses have been donated from the collection of Ashley Olsen and Tiffany's have provided one-of-a-kind diamond jewels inspired by its archives.

London 2012: 'nearest & dearest' launch

We are proud to have recently hosted the P&G 'nearest & dearest' campaign at Kent House Knightsbridge. P&G held a press launch to thank mums and families of Team GB with tickets to London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The warm and intimate elements of Kent House Knightsbridge were maximised, with sofa's and tea tables creating a homely style and previous UK Olympic hero's, including Colin Jackson, were on hand to welcome the guests.

'nearest & dearest' is a partnership between P&G and the British Olympic Association and the British Paralympic Association to create a programme that will support the friends and family of all Team GB and ParalympicsGB athletes.

The programme will bring together the family and friends of athletes, giving them advice and help on how they can best support their sons and daughters in the build up and during London 2012.

P&G will also ensure every athlete's mum gets to see their son or daughter compete at the greatest show on earth by providing free tickets to their first appearance at London 2012. We wish Team GB every success and hope that this campaign will make…

Wedding packages at Kent House Knightsbridge

We are delighted to be working with Kent House Knightsbridge who have been recently be granted by Westminster City Council a wedding licence to host civil marriage ceremonies . The venue is the most recent in Westminster to be licensed for civil marriage services and offers couples a stunning backdrop for ceremonies up to 96 guests and receptions for up to 300.

Named after milestone anniversaries, the venue will offer Silver, Gold and Diamond wedding packages, to include exclusive use of the Victorian townhouse, canapé reception, wedding breakfast, a four-hour drinks package, venue styling, entertainment and staffing.

The wedding packages afford couples the exclusivity of a private house in Knightsbridge, one of the capital’s most sought after neighbourhoods, while offering a series of stylish spaces and décors suited to a range of budgets and tastes.

The elements included in each package reflect the accession in years between Silver, Gold and Diamond Wedding Anniversaries, while maintaining superb style and quality throughout.
