Producing a fundraising gala dinner

Sparks are a leading children’s medical research charity that is dedicated to funding and championing pioneering research into a range of conditions affecting babies, children and mums-to-be. To raise funds for their research programme, they contacted us to help them produce their Winter Ball at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel. This is their flagship event in their social calendar with over 600 guests attending, celebrity ambassadors and a range of VIPs including new Sparks President, Matt Dawson MBE.

As well as being Sparks’ most important social event, it was also their 21st anniversary so it was important that the evening was a celebration as well as a fund raiser. Our brief was to produce the event, which included the set design and build, entertainment, logistics and stage management.

The Sparks brand makes uses of stars, not just within their logo but throughout their activity by running an initiative called Family Stars which shares the stories of different families experience, giving those in a similar situation a source of strength and inspiration, and demonstrating why funding medical research into childhood conditions is so vital.

Black and White Christmas Ball in Knightsbridge

Our theme at Kent House Knightsbridge this year for the winter party season was a Black and White Ball. We had lots of fun styling the venue and built a bespoke Art Deco style bar, installed a black and white dancefloor and dressed the tables dramatically for dining. The venue was lit with purple and blue hues to give a warmth and we projected images from the 1920s on the walls. The evening parties were bought to life with some wonderful flapper girls who bought a glitz and glamour to the night.

Sweet 16 at Kent House Knightsbridge

Turning 16 is a big deal these days and we seem to be asked to produce more and more Sweet 16 parties all the time. Great news for teenagers who are keen to party and for the event industry too.

Last weekend we took over the elegant Kent House Knightsbridge and styled it for a Sweet 16 party - giving our guests a night to remember. The venue looked beautiful and was lit with mauves and purples and filled with flowers. Dancing groups entertained throughout the evening before our DJ took over and the dancefloor became packed. The only thing that could tear them away was the temptation of a chocolate fountain!

We were delighted to recently be asked to produce a 3 day conference at The Landmark Hotel. Each year our client, RSM International choses a different country to host their conference - this year was London's turn. Our theme focussed on connectivity and our stage set was inspired by the London Tube map and featured iconic buildings such as The London Eye and The Gerkin.

As well as key note speeches from different countries we also had guest speakers from other organisations, such as the inspirational Duncan Goose who founded the charity, One Difference, and create brilliant, quality products, and every time you buy one, they donate 100% of the profit to life-changing projects in developing countries.

A good conference is also a chance for a get-together and we organised a great evening with a Supper Club event with a James Bond twist! Martini's were served on arrival and the set was restyled with drapes, chandeliers, palm trees and a black and white dance floor. Oversized scalextric at The Brewery

The Brewery is a truly historic, Grade II listed venue occupying the buildings of Whitbread's 18th Century beer-making empire in the City of London. Its rooms, ranging from great halls to intimate chambers, are unique.

The Brewery truly comes to life at special events. On big nights there’s a certain grandeur to stepping across the private courtyard to the octagonal reception and through into the Grade II listed rooms. The arrival through the courtyard is breathtaking and we were delighted to work there recently to produce and host the recent UK Broker Awards.

It's always a joy to work with Hugh Dennis at any event and on this evening he really bought the award show to life. At the after show party we laid on lots of giant size games for everyone to relax with including a very popular oversized scalextric which unsurprisingly proved to be the hit of the night!
